Body Fat Percentage Calculator

Estimate your body fat percentage with just a tape measure (US Navy method).

About the method and how to measure

Measure circumferences with the tape snug but not compressing the skin. Neck: just below the larynx. Waist: at navel level (men) or the narrowest point (women). Hip: at the widest point. It's an estimate — for precision, combine it with a physical assessment.

Frequently asked questions

How is body fat calculated here?

We use the US Navy method, which estimates body fat percentage from circumferences (neck, waist and, for women, hip) and height. It is practical and needs no equipment.

Is it as accurate as bioimpedance or skinfolds?

It is a good estimate for tracking, but has a margin of error. For precision, combine it with skinfold calipers or bioimpedance done by a professional.

What are healthy ranges?

Broadly: men ~10-20% and women ~18-28% are healthy ranges for most people. Athletes are below that. The ideal varies by age and goal.
